Cover: Confocal section at the basal surface of porcine kidney proximal tubule epithelial cells (LLC-PK) labeled for F-actin with rhodamine-phalloidin (red) and with an antibody against the focal adhesion protein vinculin (green). A yellow color is observed where F-actin and vinculin colocalize in the focal adhesions. The cell in the center of the field expresses a constitutively active mutant of the small p21 GTPase Rho, resulting in augmented stress fiber and focal adhesion assembly in this cell. See related article by N. Raman and S. J. Atkinson. Am. J. Physiol. 276 (Cell Physiol. 45): C1312-C1324, 1999.
