Tatsumi and colleagues demonstrate for the first time that semaphorin is expressed by satellite cells from skeletal muscle, and satellite cells respond to hepatocyte growth factor by significanly up-regulating this secretion. Semaphorin can play may roles in tissues, and the possible functions of semaphorin in regenerating muscle are discussed.
